I was born in Austin, Texas, moved to Hays County, Texas in 1985 and graduated from Jack C. Hays High School in 1993.  I attended Austin Community College where I obtained the college hours necessary to apply for a police officer position for the Austin Police Department (APD).  I was hired in January of 1998, started the 93rd Cadet Class in April 1998 and graduated in October 1998.

In 2004, I met my wife Peggy and have been happily married for 16 years.  In 2005, Peggy and I moved to Kyle, Texas to raise a family.  I love Hays County and I knew this is where I wanted our children to be raised. We are blessed to have two beautiful daughters who attend Dripping Springs High School.  Our family has lived happily in Kyle, Buda, and now Dripping Springs.  We absolutely love Hays County!

I have devoted the last 24 years to law enforcement in the Central Texas area.  My time at APD spanned 23 years and the past year of my career has been at the Hays County Sheriff’s Office where I am currently assigned to the Community Outreach Division.

About Anthony Hipolito

During my tenure at APD, I was blessed to be able to work in several units which allowed for growth and gave me a tremendous amount of experience. I was promoted twice during my career at APD and retired as a Sergeant in July 2021 with over 23 years of dedicated service to the City of Austin.  During my time at APD I worked in numerous units which include:

  • Patrol

  • Bike Patrol/Walking Beat

  • Street Response

  • Mounted Patrol

  • Public Information Office

  • Executive Protection

  • Internal Affairs

  • Organized Crime

In September 2021, I was hired by the Hays County Sheriff’s Office where I had to complete the Field Training Program and was assigned to Patrol.  After 6 months on patrol, Sheriff Cutler transferred me to the Community Outreach Division.  During my time in Community Outreach I have been a part of several events to Include:

  • Scramble Fore Kids

  • Founders Day

  • Sunshine Kids

  • July 4th Parade

  • Junior Deputy Academy

  • Brown Santa

Community Outreach is also responsible for Citizens Police Academy,  works closely with the Hays County Citizen’s Sheriff’s Academy Alumni Association and Hays County Crime Stoppers.

During my tenure in Community Outreach, Hays County saw a substantial increase in Fentanyl poisonings.  Sheriff Gary Cutler tasked Community Outreach to find ways to bring awareness to as many citizens as possible.  Since September 2022, we have presented a Fentanyl Awareness campaign to hundreds of students and adults, not only throughout Hays County but in Williamson and Travis Counties as well.

I look forward to continuing to serve the great people in Hays County and have thoroughly enjoyed my time in law enforcement. My career has been rewarding thus far, but I feel like I am just starting.  I look forward to building on what Sheriff Gary Cutler has done over his tenure as Sheriff, and am ready for the challenges a growing county can present.  As your next Sheriff, I look forward to serving EVERYONE with honesty, integrity, respect and fairness.
